i was on line and checked out the fiberglass/plastic firewalls, did know if some make their own with heat and sound barrier material and apply with adhesive or maybe both, my old firewall material like most was brittle and had to go, just curious what is most desirable, for example has anyone used hushmat?

Ah. OK.
Yeah, I used Hushmat. I ordered Summit's house brand sound deadener that's what arrived at my house. Works great and cutting down NVH. However, it is not intended to insulate from heat.. that's what the OEM pad is for.
In terms of the fiberglass/plastic liners... line it with padded insulation.
Layer of hush mat, layer of EZ cool, and a layer of 1/4 inch closed cell foam. I found the CCF did the best job of all three at controlling heat, vibration, and sound.
