Trip Computer

I bought a 2004 Ford Excursion XLT without the trip computer(compass, temp, dte mpg). I saw on ebay a really nice looking one. Checked out under my overhead console and the empty wire harness was there so I took a chance and bought it. Went to put it in and the connector for the wiring harness is the wrong gender. They are both females. (The plastic part is bigger with pins inside it) Will it be possible to get a male connector (Smaller plastic part with pin receptacles in it) and get it wired up? Advice Please...

Can you take some photos of the connectors and the overhead display you picked up? That might help us narrow it down for you.

You cant really see in the picture bothe the connector in the headliner and the connector on the console are both the same gender so you cannot put one inside the other because they are the same size

I guess you could cut and direct wire them. However, it's nice to have a plug so you can remove the console without cutting wires. You might try the 9 pin pre wired connector I found here

http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a...lti-pin/2.html

It has both male and female wired together. Just cut it in the middle and then cut the wires from the 2 existing connectors and wire to each side of the new connector...that's what I would do. I checked the oem wiring harness for it and like so many things, it has been discontinued.
