2004 exped., 4.6 liter. error code p0156, bank 2, sensor 2. Replaced sensor, drove, error code came back. Replaced the three other sensors, code came back on. Wiring to the sensors appears good, but one of the wires might be hanging low. This will be checked. We are trying to figure this out before going to a shop. Mechanics, we are not. Anyone have ideas? Truck has 152k miles. Cat converters have not been changed.
Check for a vacuum leak. Sometimes you get a sensor code due to another problem and intake leaks are a common source of codes that look like the sensor is bad or something else.
A vacuum leak cannot cause this particular DTC although an exhaust leak can.
The DTC indicates that the output of the sensor S22 is "stuck", either high or low, and is not changing. Have your mechanic check and see if that signal line is shorted to either ground or some other wire. He should be able to monitor the sensor output on his scan tool to see where it's stuck at. That will give him more data.
There was nothing wrong with the other three sensors, they should not have even been considered as suspects for this particular fault.
