I NOW have intermittent wipers on my 79 Bronco. Thanks to the stickies. I bought the stuff at the jy from an 88 f150 and it was a plug and play. Even the washer pump works without changing wire pins. Straight p&p. Even got the door switches for the dome light to work. Happy happy happy happy happy
That's something you don't see everyday. I live in fear that I will post a question only to find out Rich put the answer on page 403 of his "info and then some" stickie...............
Enjoy the intermittent wipers. I couldn't live without them here in the Pacific NW.
The washer pump was working before the upgrade. Based on the stickies I read, I thought I would have to move a wire in the connector, but this 88 version I did not need to.
Washer pump is super easy to replace. You pull the washer reservoir from the engine bay, disconnect the plug, remove the lock ring, swap in the new one. Replace the fluid hose while you're at it, I think its about 2 feet long. By this point in your trucks life, it's probably cracked. That's all there is to it, takes about 10 minutes.
To the OP, you should do the wiper upgrade that's also somewhere in the stickies, or just search it. Best combo upgrade (intermittent/wiper) that I've done to the truck thus far. Those stickies sure are useful if you have time to sort through them.
One of my happier days: I thought my wiper switch was shot because it rotated past the stop detente - then the wipers moved and I realized I had intermittents!! WhooHoo! Unfortunately I have no juice on the white wire when I push the washer button, so I suspect the switch is partially bad anyway... but yeah, intermittent wipers rank up there with the best of automotive conveniences.

Someone may have swapped in an intermittent switch from the '80s and not changed the wire for the washer pump as stated above. Check with an electrical tester or simply swap the two wires on the smaller part of the plug (if my memory serves me).
Can't think of one reason not to try this... I checked the juice at the wire but never thought to check any open terminal. Learn something new every day- Thanks!
I didn't have to swap any wires in mine either and everything works perfectly. I can't remember what year mine came out of though, but I believe it was mid-80s. Is swapping a wire a thing for certain years? I hadn't heard of that at all, thought they were all plug and play...?
