I did a search but couldn't find this particular problem. We bought a 2006 Explorer today. the dealer gave us a new unused key fob because it did not have any. We followed the 8 times to on procedure and it programmed the key fob perfectly. Then we programmed the keypad on the door and it worked great. However, after the keypad was programmed, the key fob stopped working. When we try the 8 times on procedure, now it locks and unlocks the doors twice and the key fob never gets programmed. Has anyone seen this before? It has us baffled. Thanks in advance for any help.
After about an hour of frustration, I took the key fob apart and discovered that the battery wasn't making good contact. I bent the little contacts out and got the fob working. So it wasn't the truck, just the fob stopped working after the first few uses. All is well.
