Cleared off the previous owners door entry code, (he wrote it in the owners manual) and went to set my personal code and it did not take.
The factory code card is also in the manual, so I have all the numbers I need. Tried it several times. Made sure I didn't punch in a number that uses the same pad twice.
It won't even open using the factory code now either. I read through the key less entry code thread in the tech folder, but it didn't mention anything about what I am experiencing.
This is the first vehicle I have owned with a keyless entry pad and want to use it. I am moving up in the world.
IMO, the factory code would be harder (for someone) to guess than a personal code.
Yes, I could use the factory code, but it won't program in either. This is why I was wondering if there is a way to get it to work.
I am following the easy instructions in the manual to get it to the factory default, but it is not taking.
Would pulling the neg. battery cable do any good to see if that clears it?
Pulling the battery cable couldn't hurt. All it does is reset everything that isn't hard programmed into the system. Sadly I'm pretty sure it won't help as if it did a dead battery would reset everything on someones car that had the keypad and everyone would be pissed. It is however worth a shot!
I definitely couldn't hurt to disconnect the battery. It's a computer after all and we know those can get hung up/stuck once in a while. Or it may have locked you out after so may tries. I thought I heard that they do that, but I never looked into it.
Thanks for the replies. I will give it a shot and let you know.
Haven't had time to mess with it the last few days. Been working on firearms. I have priorities.
Can you post a pic of it so we can make sure you have an OEM factory installed keypad and not one of the battery operated ones you can buy from the dealership.
