I believe the factory code should work in all instances. If it doesn't maybe it's been disabled by too many incorrect entries or not functioning properly.
Right, no matter what, the original 5-digit code should always work. It can't be erased. I would wonder if the keypad is bad or somehow disconnected. To doublecheck keypad function, make sure that you have the door key in your pocket, then simultaneously press the [7|8] and [9|0] buttons. The doors should lock. If they don't, then either the keypad is completely disconnected, or one of those buttons isn't functioning.
Youngest daughter bought it new, sold it to our middle daughter several yers back and the keypads never really been used...always the remotes. Want to recover the original combination and have found all of the stuff in the owners "wallet" but can't find anything that has a Five diget number on it. The remotes work just fine.
You will need to program up the keypad in order to work on the new vehicle. In order do that, you will need the permanent code. There was a credit card that came with it with the code. I think the card may have also had a bar code on it.
But you'd need the remotes, plus keypad. You turn on/off the ignition 7 times and the locks will pop up/down. Then hit a button on a keypad, locks respond. Do the other remote. Then you will need to enter the permanent code in the pad. Locks will respond. Hit brake pedal and all are programed.
Then you need to program your "personal" code. You enter in the permanent code. Within about 3 seconds, hit the 1 button, followed by your code. That'll enter in the new personal code. Give it about 15 seconds and you should be able to use the new code.
I think that's how it goes. I can't remember for sure if the ignition thing was 7 times or 8. I can't remember if you hit brakes or door lock to finish the program. And I can't remember if it is the 1 button or the 0 button. But I can look it up in my manual if you'd like.
The on thing that is for sure is you need that permanent code. Otherwise, you'll have to buy a new one.
