Code for keyless entry pad?

Just purchased 2003 F250 Lariet package. Have original factory code for keyless entry pad but does not seem to work. Don't know code if former owner changed it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Joe

original factory code should always work ad can be retreived via code reader. It is possible to add an additional code that is user specified, but it becomes a second code that will work. I believe it is detailed in the users manual. Its been a while since I have looked in my owners manual for my 2003 s-crew.

You can not change the factory code. Hit the last two buttons (7/8 9/0) together and see if the doors lock. If so you have the wrong code, if not the system is not working. You can get the factory code on the box itself just in case.

I would try the dealer. It only takes a few minutes and hopefully, since you just bought the truck, they will do it for free.

Hitting the last two buttons does work - lock the doors. I must have the wrong factory code on the card. Where else can I find it? This was a used truck I bought from a Dodge dealer.

Thanks.

You could also have 1 failed button on the keypad, try in the dark pushing 1 button at a time and see if the lights come on, wait till they go off and repeat for the remaining buttons. You only have to do the first 3 buttons as you already confirmed that the last 2 work.

If they do all work then you probably have the wrong code, either you have to locate the VSS module and try to find the # or go to the dealer and they can pull the # electronically.

All the control modules have the number on the side of the box on a sticker, 5 numbers written big. As I said this can not be changed, you can add and erase a second code so maybe that is the code they gave you. Unfortunately my 99 did not come with keyless entry so I do not know where the box is.

I am guessing it may be behind the kick panels. All cars and trucks are different, some cars have it in the trunk and my Explorer has it inside the left quarter panel. Maybe someone can tell you where it is located in the SD. Once you know just read the 5 numbers off of it and you will be set.

I believe it's up high on firewall. High and to right of gas pedal. Possibly behind radio. I've heard you can see it from below with a good flashlight

The controle box on the explorers/mountaineers are under the rear diver side panel at the back hatch.

It should have all the info in your Owners Manual. There also should be some cards to put in your wallet. That's if the previous owner didn't use them and you have an owners manual. Your FORD dealer can get you some cards.

I'll get out my owners manual and see what the procedure is for getting this reset and post it for you later.
