If you do want to build big power later on, you should hold out for a p-pump model engine.
4-500 is the foreseeable goal but thats not to say i wont get bored someday and go nuts, i know how to tune both but the ppumps are just so damn easy...

In that case, I'd go P-pump. It's also important to note that there are a variety of p-pumps that came on these motors, rated by HP.

Yes it is. However I would try to find an NV4500HD rather than the NV4500. The HD's have some upgrades that keep the 5th gear nut where it belongs.

Good luck. 12 valves are getting more and more expensive.

I agree. I'd say $2500.00 or so for the engine and $1500.00 for the transmission. Providing everything works as it should. You should be able to part the rest and make some money back.

That seems pretty high to me. Just keep looking around and you`ll find a good deal. My buddy just picked up a whole 12valve 2wd truck for $2,000.

Also for the nv4500 if your interested you can buy a whole brand new updated HD nv4500 for $1950 from High Impact.

I figure it's worth a shot to see if I can get this guy to come down. If not I'll just keep looking

I bought my donor truck for 3,200 with 152,000 miles on it. That was four years ago though. Still, I'd shop around for a better deal.

i've been shopping there just isn't much in the area, i've been looking from seatle to klamath falls and spokane to eugene and just about everywhere in between people seem to be outrageously proud of diesels here in the northwest for some reason...

I bought my donor dodge in 09 with the nv4500 for $1900. I kept the engine, trans and Dana 80 rear axle then parted the rest for about $1000. I searched for a long time and was ready to jump when the deal came along.
