Well, it is done. I converted the dually to single axle. Really easy and used different backspaced rims to get it lineed up so i could keep the Dane 80 rear. Attached is a few before and after photos.
Purchased with Lance Camper, Truck has 90,000 miles
Sold camper and painted all black.
Put on new bed, painted to match, and ready for lift and tires.
Finished except for the steps. Used 18X9 rims with -12 and +18 offset. Wheels line up perfect.
What kind of DMV or legal stuff do you need to follow doing this? I always wished I had four instead of six but then I don't think I would want to modify my truck and run into issues later but I suppose that would only happen if I registered it some place else and they wanted to verify the vehicle or I sold it.
Besides RIM's and tires so you kept the same rear axle and just went with a larder offset rim? Other than changing out the bed to get rid of fenders what were if any headaches and costs involved?

It was really straightforward. You need different offset rims, take off the front spacers, and then you need to cut the rear studs a little as they are too long because they held two rims at one time.
That might be true and I still have a Dana 80. I tow travel trailers and a boat, but nothing super heavy and I don't load the crap out of the bed. So for me, not a big deal.
Suppose if you needed to you can air bag it or switch out rear end later down the road. Nice setup though I'm a bit jealous! That and you can always revert back keeping that axle in there. I guess with the GVWR being maybe slightly lower than stock now you should be able to handle anything a SRW F250-350 hauls anyhow I would think.
GVWR probably comes down to the tires now. If he puts on tires rated for the same weight as both dually tires, or up to the max rear axle rating, then you would still be fine with the original value.
