Vacuum modulater hose
Im new to the site. Ive got a question. Ive got an 86 f250 with a 460 and c6 tranny. Every time i start the truck the hose on the vacuum modulater pops off. Both the hose and modulater have tranny fluid on them. Once i put the hose back if the engine is cold it surges and dies if it worm the hose still pops off when started but when replaced it idols fine and shifts fine. Any ideas as to where the back pressure is coming from that is popping off the hose would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! The modulator need replacing. It is leaking internally and the transmission fluid is sucked towards the carburetor. The fluid causes the vacuum hose to soften and swell, so it comes off the vacuum port. The loose hose causes a vacuum leak which causes the engine to run poorly.
