So was sitting at an idle in park and truck starts knocking, horrific sound. So shut checked oil, good, went to work came out 8 hours later, started up still knocked. Pulled into drive hit the pedal, knock went away, stopped at red light, knock came back......Truck has been parked for 3 days, still knocks at an idle but soon as tap the pedal and give fuel it goes away... Tried unplugging injectors one at a time to eliminate, still had knock. any suggestions???????
Sorry forgot the details::::: 2003 auto, 4wd, studded, deleted, coolant filter, sct with innovative tunes 108,000 miles.
is it smoking and stinking smoke? if so injector could be stuck open, unplugging wont matter because it is mechanically stuck open. if it was a lifter or valve train component it would miss. as soon as u give it fuel the rpm goes up and uses the fuel instead of "flooding" it , of sorts. usually it will smoke like hell and smell raw fuel out tail pipe. the good thing is if u replace failing injector it usually causes no damage, if it was a 6.4l the engine would be junk. hope this helps.
Sad part is the injectors are all new, well new Re-mans....less than 500 miles and 2 weeks on them.. Next question, how to determine which injector. Rockers and lifters and such have no obvious issues, just looking at moving and such
Any codes set? If it goes away when put in drive, I would make sure the trans to engine bolts are tight and do a visual on the flex plate to torque converter studs.

That's what I was thinking.
Loose flex plate bolts or cracked flex plate?
Easy to check...
