I had bought this truck and have been going through all the issues and when checking why my reverse lamps do no work I have realized my neutral safety switch is missing with the connector dangling.
Now this truck has been working perfectly fine. Does this mean someone has bypassed the neutral safety switch? If so, how do I get my reverse lamps to work?
welcome to FTE. to get the reverse lights working again, you are going to have to put a NSS/reverse lamp switch back on the side of the trans.
if the NSS is missing and the connector is hanging, someone bypassed it somewhere along the line. hopefully they just put a jumper wire int he connector that when removed will allow the new switch to work properly.
Thanks a lot for the reply. The connector isn't bypassed, just empty. Can I use my Chilton wiring diagram and remove the pins that have nothing to do with the reverse lamps, and install a new one?
Also the EGR has been disconnected purposely. This truck has a K&N filter, headers and custom exhaust, cat and muffler. I never had a truck with any performance parts added to it, was the EGR disconnected for a reason?
egr was probably disconnected because it was not working. K&N filter is not a performance part, they actually filter less than a stock filter and let fine particles into the engine.
when i said it was bypassed, i meant there was a jumper wire between tow of the wires bypassing the NSS so the truck will start.
if there is no jumper wire in the plug, then someone somewhere along the line did something funky with the wiring somewhere else to bypass it.
