So, some of my stereo equipment is back ordered so I'm not going to tackle that project this weekend and it's supposed to rain so I figured I'd start doingmy headline and trim. The trim was too badly rusted in a few spots, To try to sand and polish and bring back to life. So did some filler and reshaping as I had to cut a good bit out. Going to sand, primer and paint a high glossy black. My cardboard headliner is cracked and broken but I can fix that and sand properly so headliner won't show but here's my question. I noticed when I took it down that there is tons of room up above where headliner mounts. Has anyone here ever run LEDs up there? My thoughts are run LEDs behind the headliner as your looking up, cut some vertical slats (4 or 6- think old school 12" wooden measuring sticks size) slots into cardboard. Wrap in material, reassemble and then at night hit switch for LEDs and have a nice (in my case orange because of color of interior and truck) glow from above shine down through material and into truck. I guess the only thing I don't know would be the size mill fabric to be thick enough but yet let light through? This whole system will be tied into a multi switch led system I will be creating for the interior, dash lights, under dash, behind seat and engine bay that I'm assembling right now and building out the circuit board and connectors and I figured I'd at least run the LEDs and Wiring up there now while it's easy to get too., thoughts? Comments? Smart *** comments? Lol

It's a pick up truck, not a stretch limo/tuner car with a fart can muffler and hoopty lights in the ceiling and behind the seat. Oh make sure the lights strobe with the stupid loud stereo. Better get some spinner hub caps for it then too, oh and a chrome chain steering wheel and a crown for the dash. And then put a 5K stereo in a 1K car with 6K worth of 24" anodized bling rims. With LED's in them too. ROTFFLMAO

Haha..i don't know about all that. I've never seen it done so didn't know what the "look" would be like or doable..you know how it is, fixing one thing and your brain(after a few adult beverages) gets to thinking of..while I'm doing this, I should also do this..lol
Well you asked and I felt like being a smart donkey. What if you replace the head liner with material like the thread suggests, and just put a small strip of LED on the front edge of the cab, under the visors and tie them into you dome light? Also swap the old style cab dome light for an LED set up.
I guess you could but some lED under the seat facing fwd so you can see better to get in? I would work the light issues over to be more useful than car showish. IMO
Yea, the LEDs will be more light functional than just show. The lights under the seat will shine forward into the cab and be triggered off the door close button so when the button is in open, the lights will come on. I have decided against the light under the headliner as I went wih a herringbone type lkner that's much thicker. It isn't even a headliner material per say but looks real nice. About to start that process now. It's all good, in Van appreciate a good jab. I'm a smart *** myself..lol
I am glad you have a sense of humor, since I do too. Make sure you post up your work, which I am sure it will be nice. We can all see how hard you are working on your truck.

Hang in there, it looking good.
Lol..oh yea, I'm too old to get "butt hurt" as my daughter says..
Will do, the headliner came out damn nice, even with a torn to shreds backer board. Will post pics and write up later this afternoon. Off to pick n pull to get a inside dome light and see if I can get that to work.
