1989 F-150 updates?

Howdy folks,
Been awhile, but been busy with work. LOL So, I finally have the trucks's engine and transmission what I would call mechanically sound. Some minor mechanical and cosmetic stuff to go. Window regulator, some interior door panels, paint, etc.

Now I like the truck like it is, but I'm wondering what kind of update stuff may be available for this model? Now obviously, I can update the radio simply enough, but are there other things I can bring more up to date without too much difficulty? Has anyone else done any of this? Things like a bucket seat/center console set that will fit? LED lights? I need a set of side steps for my short girlfriend! LOL Any suggestions and sites I can check out to visit for products would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have an 88 F250 and I updated most of my lights to LED. I did nearly all of the interior lights including the dash lights, the underhood light, the reverse lights, the roof marker lights. I liked the interior lights the best, dome lights and dash lights were a nice upgrade. Search for 921 LEDs, that does most of the interior except the dome. The dome needs a 561 and two 1056 or 1156 (can't recall which one). I bought mine on Amazon, brand name cutequeen. Fairly bright and look nice and modern.

I was just reading through my notes, 194 LED does most the interior as well instead of the 921. I believe they have the same base but the 921 has a larger "bulb" part so the 194 size would fit better in the instrument panel. Some LEDs will claim both sizes in their description.

I added the remote locks. I really like them. My son and I installed '02 F150 buckets and center console. They sit higher and need a little shimming to level them out. But I really like them and the console! Wife can fit her Hippie Bag in the console with no problem! Even with my stuff in it.
Also have a speaker box built under the rear seat. Houses two 6x9 three way Polks, two 8" subs and an amp. Looks like it should have been there from the factory. Kenwood three-way speakers in the doors to help the rear.

Thanks for the update superds. And Bruners4, that is exactly something I needed to know. We have a great truck junkyard nearby so I will be on the lookout for the seats as well! Other than the shims, do they basically just drop right in?

It takes some work to get the newer seats to fit in. Had to make new mounting holes. Center console is just screwed down. Take your time and have someone there to help. And don't plan on an adult sitting in the jump seat behind the driver.
