Motorcraft battery bxt 65-850

It's about time for me to get some new batteries. My batteries are about 3.5 years old. Local dealer has them for about $120 each. Any thoughts on these? They have a 3 year free replacement warranty. I've seen posts about the advance auto golds but I'm not sure they're that great from the reviews I've read. Advice?

Howdy,

There's not very many battery manufacturers in the US, but a LOT of brand names and the technology hasn't changed in years (except considering the Optima type or gelled electrolyte type or recombinant gas batteries etc)

I would buy batteries from a reputable place with the lowest price and the best warranty. It doesn't really matter who's name is on the box.

Cheers,

Rick

Thanks Rick. Any "need" for 850 cca? I live in Texas, don't have any added electrical needs, and run a 140 amp alt with stock wiring.

Use TRT30 for a coupon at Advance, saves 30% or $50 if you go that way.

I've had these batteries for 3 years now and no problems! They are still made here in the U.S.. I have the Ultimates in my truck 1035 CA at 32 and 850 at 0. They also have AGM's I don't know about pricing in your area but I paid 75.00 each at the time. When I called a few weeks ago they have only gone up 10.00 dollars more or 85.00 plus tax. Best deal I found and a better battery than AZ or Advance. NAPA brand is East Penn also, but depends on the vender of the area. Sometimes Johnson Controls from what Ive been told.

I do use a battery minder also

I run the AGM from Advance and did run the Gold series until about two months ago. Figured they would be easy to replace, stores everywhere you go. The AGM are doing very well.

I always buy Interstate batteries. I have the megatrons or whatever they call them. The store I buy from typically has a pallet on floor with "scratch and scuff" batteries at a discount.

As for any other brands, I have had bad experiences with napa and les schwab batteries.

I like Walmart MAXX batteries, however, I had AC Delcos in my 2006 and they were still testing very well 3.5 years after purchase.

I would also 2nd Advance Auto and using online coupons to bring the price down.

Its hard to beat $50 off the price. Use the code on one battery at a time, as it won't get you any more than $50 off the $150 purchase. Then after you've checked out, hit it again for the second battery. Works on almost everything but oil and a few things like that.

Save me $200 on my A/C stuff last year, $100 on batteries this year already!

If in your garage you put $10 in a jar every month at the end of two years you can just consider the batteries a maintenance item like oil, no matter where you buy them.

I wouldn't do that. I myself went to my local dealer and bought the pair of BXT65-850 on sale for 79 a piece. That was 8 months ago. Last Monday I woke up with dead batteries because this dumb *** left the 20 inch LED light bar ON ALL NIGHT. Jump started the truck and drove straight to the dealership where they already had a set waiting for me as I had called while in route. Didn't even need a receipt as my info is in their system. Long story short, I drove away with two new batteries, a complimentary car wash and... no charge!!! Thank you Ford!!!

Bottom line is find a local dealer, make friends, and leave your lights on every two years.
