My '96 is in dire need of new window seals on the tailgate. I checked with FordParts.com and they are no longer available. I searched around on the forum but couldn't find a current good source for replacements. I really need to get this taken care of ASAP before the rust gets started. Where are you guys getting these parts?
Fairchild (which some seem to think is a good choice for seals) makes a kit of the inner and outer seals. Their part number is KF2027 and it consists of their F2027 outer seal and the F2028 inner seal. They're available around the web from many places including JC Whitney. Here's a random vendor. http://www.andysautosport.com/produc...s__KF2027.html
I've got the Fairchild pieces ordered and coming from Rockauto. They didn't have the corner seals so I ordered them from JBG along with a couple of other parts. Might have all of the parts here first part of next week. Then the fun begins!
Okay me being lazy right now and taking a break from this lab report I have to do I'm going to ask this question.
Are those corner pieces just the foam type thing that sit near the tailgate/top area? And if so, do you know how much the whole rubber piece that rides along the top is? (And while we're at it, the weatherstripping piece for when the top is removed?)
I replaced my inner and outer pieces a few years back for the glass, but all the other weatherstripping needs replacing on that now so I need to order it soon.
The corner seals are the square'sh foam pieces on the tailgate. They finish off the seals on the top corners of the tailgate.
Are you talking about the back glass upper run? This is the weather stripping that the tailgate glass moves up into.

Guys, a couple of weeks ago I replaced the tailgate glass upper run. But I just pulled it out because it wouldn't stay in place. First of all, IMHO it was a less than optimal part. Instead of being formed in a "U" shape, it was flat and way too flexible. You had to bend it lengthwise to form a "U" shape to insert it into the roof channel. In contrast, the oem glass run I removed was stiff was apparently manufactured in a "U" shape and when pushed up into the roof channel, was held in place merely by friction. The replacement glass run wanted to return to flat, would push out and, thus, would not stay in place. So I used some dabs of Ford Weatherstrip Adhesive, but it didn't hold. It came with only two of the four push pins. The holes did not line up correctly. The rubber was so thin and flexible that it tore at the holes. I temporarily installed it in both orientations, and neither looked any better than the other and neither looked like oem.
So I am about to order another glass run from a different vendor but since I doubt the product will be any different than the part I already tried to install which failed, I would like your suggestions on where to buy and how to install it.
I also had the rear window seal replaced in the upper channel as mine was cracked. I'm not sure where this one was from as I had Muscle Car Concepts reseal the top as I was chasing water entering the cab in the B pillar area. I'll stop by tomorrow and ask where he got the rear window seal. It has been in there for almost 2 years and hasn't given me any problems.
Thank you Brursne4 ! I am apparently in rep jail, so cannot rep you. Maybe someone else will rep you for me for your helpfulness since this thread will undoubtedly help others in addition to me.
