Getting a soft "thunk" when shifting from first to second
Good that you used Mercon-V tranny fluid.
Yup, the oil pressure sensor/switch is known to leak between its plastic insulator & metal case & or around its center electrical connector.
The high mileage oils also have more detergent cleaner uppers in their ad packs, so can begin a tidy up of gum/varnish on valve stems & deposit loaded ring lands, if you come to believe blow-by is some of the problem.
Unfortunately that's all I got to do with that problem today because after my trash run (about 25 miles total), as I pulled in the drive way I smelled coolant. I popped the hood and there was "green" coolant spraying out of the side of the degas bottle where the plastic had gone brittle. I knew that was a bad side but didn't know it would go so soon. But, more surprisingly is the radiator plastic end cap also sprung a leak. So I just spent the last 4 hours putting in a new degas bottle, new radiator as well as flushing out the green coolant and putting in Zerex G05 gold coolant as that is what this truck actually takes per this: https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubrican...coolantsEN.pdf. Not sure why someone put green in it.
If that looks ok, maybe consider lifting the rear end on jack stands & have someone run the engine & shift while you listen to see if its coming from within the differential, or maybe associated more with a wheel, like with an axle bearing. Keep us posted on the trouble shoot.
Dang, sorry to hear about the cooling system woes, but sounds like you have a good grip on it.
