Need help

Ok truck would not start when cold outside. So I put a gpr on truck. Truck alt would only put out 11.5 after I put it on.so I put 4 new alts on all read the same 11.5 and the battery's would drain over night. Turns out they gave me a starter relay. So I have the proper one now .now when u turn the key the everything is flashing the dash dome light buzzer .but take one of the small wired off the gpr it stops but I have no power to the starter it's been 2 months of hell trying to figure it out.

How old are the batteries?

Have you charged the batteries and tested them?

Weak batteries will make the electric things in the truck act goofy. So will bad ground connections, relays, etc. Start with the batteries.

When it's cold out, the battery volts will read low as long as the GPR is active - up to 2 minutes. Perfectly normal.

I'd get the truck back to what you had before things got weird.

With everything turned off, I would start by pulling the ground/negative cable off the batteries. See if you have electricity drawing from them. Check them one at a time.

Since the GPR was an issue before, nothing says you got a good one. I've had brand new out of the box and not work.

Check the cable at the starter. Make sure it is tight and good connection.

The fact that everything in the truck goes crazy when the ignition is turned on, tells me you have a ground issue somewhere.

It sounds like a bad connection in your wiring to me. Either at the battery, at the grounds or on the starter connection. And are your starter mounting bolts tight?

Are the starters 24 or 12 volt?

All 12 volt equipment.

The dual batteries are in parallel, not series. Don't make the mistake of connecting in series or big $$

It would be cool if we could feed that starter 24 volts and end most of our starting problems.

well technically you could feed it 24V and end your starting problems, just be mindful that your truck will not start after words and could damage other things, but if thats not an issue you can do so and end the starting issues....

our trucks are 12V systems.

In the world of car audio competition some run 24v for short burst. But on our trucks nah, you will end up shorting stuff out.

Try turning on your headlights, then try starting. See if the lights go real dim or out. If they go dim, the batteries may be low. If they go out, then you may have a faulty ground somewhere. Have you tried jump starting it?
