Tuners 6.0. L

From my research on the board it appears the 5 Star SCT is the most used tuner. Any additional suggestions, options etc always appreciated

Do we get a discounted price at FTE?
Any. Needed or recommended gauges ?

This is my first diesel--EVER.

I read your statement and agree. A lot of the members go that way with SCT. I also see alot of posts about Matt @ Innovative Diesel on the 6.0's and 5 star on the V10's.

I used an Edge Cts setup for the monitor & display.

At some point I will only use it as a monitor and purchase the SCT stuff.

I'll be watching this thread.

Unfortunately, I do not know. I'll be picking it up next Sunday. Are there issues regarding tuning and the head studs? I won't be towing a travel trailer or anything of the like. I tried to find out about things like EGR delete but the Ford dealer I'm getting it from did not know.

My recommendation as well.

I may not own a 6.0, but I've ridden in Razzi's and my friends plenty of times. Razzi's has Gearhead tunes, Jimmy has Innovative and there is no comparison, GH wins.

Matt, is that just because of ***** out power and speed or can you keep it "tame" and still see improvement in transmission operationas well?

I keep me 6.0 / cts setup on tow all the time now. I don't want more power but if there are other benefits to gear heads setup I am all ears.

Honestly, it's because of the overall functionality. The Innovative was nearly as quick, but nowhere near as smooth doing it. Trans was a bit abrupt and hunted a few times like the stock tuning does as well under certain situations. The Gearhead setup just plain trumps it for comfort, support, and adjustability as well as response time for updates. Matt and Larz at GH will leave power levels alone if you wish and focus primarily on trans strategies, etc - just call and ask or email them for updates. My converter now locks and unlocks in almost every year depending on the tune, as well as the throttle position in relation to vehicle speed, end results are a whole galaxy of difference over stock, absolutely for the better.

My personal experiences with Gearhead make me a huge supporter, as well as their tunes. Yes, I'm in a 7.3 - but no tunes have run like the Gearhead ones, period. I've tried some FTE sponsors, wasn't nearly as impressed. I also hate soot and smoke, and Gearhead was the ONLY one right out of the box that I got a puff when I romped on it, and it cleared to a haze. Now all bets are off, I need an even bigger turbo for these sticks so it smokes no matter what if I floor it.

I could literally write an entire dissertation on why I recommend Gearhead to everybody that asks this question, and I happily will do so and send it via PM to whoever is interested.

I use the iTSX from SCT with my iPad on my stock 6.0 PSD. I do have the Blue Spring upgrade and MBRP SS turbo back (cat delete) exhaust. I use the factory SCT tunes that come with the iTSX.

It works really well and it keeps the interior clutter free.

I don't know if I would run much of tune on a non studded 6.0, maybe it's just me

I would consider a tuner that just helped with the shift points...

What happened about buying a 6.0 and not afraid!

Gearhead has tunes safe for non studded trucks. I run them on both of mine for almost a year now with no problems.

My first X wasn't studded and I had bought some Arp's just for the day I blew it up. I kept for 3 more years without studding it and I drove the heck out of it, but I never towed. I believe towing with the 6.0 is the main reason for failure.
