fuel gauge

fuel gauge on my 68 has never worked, today was time to figure out why, traced back to sending unit, pulled sending unit and was missing float and resistor was not working. cleaned resistor and ordered float however do i need to seal the resistor compartment and if so with what?

I think you mean, rheostat. It does not require any sealant.
