OK so I thought I cracked an injector tip because it was blowing white smoke. Figured it was number 5 or number 7 injector and pulled them. Neither tip looks cracked but number 7 seals are shot. I'm thinking seals will be fine engine was running fine before.
That bottom seal was trashed and while I was figuring out what was happening I hydrolocked the engine with the starter not while running. Pulled number 5 and number 7. Copper seal didn't come out with 7 but it doesn't even look like there was one in the injector cup.
I'm guessing since the bottom rubber seal took a dump while I was checking code fuel was getting past and dumping in the cyclinder.
How long do yall think a seal would last if auto shop didn't put a copper seal on the injector? It's been over two years since had work done in there.
Sure looks like what happens when one is under torqued.
Also anytime an injector has to come out if a new one is
not going back in you must replace the copper and the
O-rings with new.
One thing that looks questionable is that injector has surface
rust and it should not have any. Should be bright like the upper
body and not rust pitted like it is.
Look around and make sure that washer did not fall off and drop
down the oil return holes at the lower edge of the rocker box.
P.S. Benny check your oil cooler post for my post I added more to it.
Part number for the IH cooler kit.
Yeah I cleaned out all the holes for the injector hold down and for the oil rail. I got everything back togather now and started it up. I replaced the injector harness also the old one was falling apart. Tell a huge difference with the new wiring. Injector buzz sounds a lot stronger. Truck smoked for a few minutes and has cleared up.
What do you think is causing the surface rust on the injector? I am using motorcraft fuel filters and always filling up at stations that get high volume.
You might want to check you fuel tank for water.
Also one other thing could be entrained water and
some use of emulsifier to cause the water to get past
the water barrier that is part of the filter in the HFCM.
Never used an emulsifier in it. Only additive I have used is 2 stroke and power service grey bottle. Fuel filters I used Napa filters once when I first got it and changed shortly after doing some reading on this forum to motorcraft but I'll check it out.
