If I won big- I would take a different approach-- I would ask each family member for their largest bill (most likely house) then write them a check to pay it off. THen I would tell them that my "obligation" as a lottery winner is done- anything I buy or give from this point on is really and truly a gift and they should not expect to freeload. I would do the same for select friends-- I would pay 5% to church that day- then I would then travel to different churches every so often and look around- if they need help I would write them a 10,000 or 20,000 check and put it in the collection basket then leave :-) My parents who have everything paid for would be a different matter- I would start buying them trips= to wherever they wanted to go and spend time with them. My wife would get a Victorian house- Then I would get toys- and go to the dunes with my buddies or fourwheelin or where ever- and spend time with them- if they needed help paying for a trip or getting there I would- even buy them new rigs so they can go if need be. Basically I would devote my life to friends family and church- My child will still have to work for what she has- but she will live comfortably. I would invest a fair amount to ensure I continue to have some but otherwise it would all be play money- then I die- with weird Al playing at my funeral
If I was going to SD, I wouldn't stay at the same campground, or the same motel for that matter. I believe I would spend more time in Deadwood, and Less time staring at 4 dead presidents.
