I have a 2008 F250 SD Crew Cab. I have 20" wheels on the truck but my spare is an 18" wheel. I would like to get a 20" rim to replace it but I'm not sure what other 20" rims would match what I have. I've looked on a bunch of sites and it looks like any rims from 1997 to 2014 will fit. My head is spinning from all the talk about offset and spacers. Is this correct?
Not trying to be a dipstick but whats the worry about the wheel size on your spare. Unless your wanting to work your spare into the rotation I wouldn't worry about the size and just make sure its got air and isn't dry rotted.
8x170 is the Lug pattern starting in 99. In 2005 the axles and suspension was changed from leaf spring to coil in the fronts and those offsets are slightly different. You want a wheel that will fit a 2005- current truck.

I don't want to run the chance of having to use a different size spare when I might be in 4WD.

Bently_Coop. Thanks for the info. That's the direction I will go. I knew I would get good info from the FTE community.

Are they stock/factory 20" wheels and stock spare? If so, the tire size is going to be different and will have the same overall diameter.
I have stock 20" on my F150 and the factory spare is like a 17 or 18, but with a higher sidewall tire compared to the 20 inchers.....oh, and its also a 4x4 truck.
I understand that. I went through that with my ram when I lifted it and went up to 36" tires. If I had a flat on the back I had to swap one from the front to the rear cuz of the rear locker and put the spare on the front.
