electric overdrive
have 78 F150 351M with C-6 tranny
Looking to put an electric overdrive on the back of the tranny so I get better mpg and engine works less . Anyone have input on this and what overdrive is best for simple and most dependable or better yet as bullet proof as possible?

will be putting on a tranny cooler , like to keep the fluids separate, friends old car had 351 and a C-4 , cooling tube for tranny leaked and antifreeze took out tranny.
my 77 F250 with C-6 had two coolers and was great, fluid came back low temp and ready to work lol

your engine would work less if you swapped out for a overdrive transmission that had a lock-up torque converter. There are threads on the swap and running different type transmission controllers. It doesn't look too hard

I have the Gear Vendors OD and it's great. It's bullet proof, they put the same unit in dump trucks. It's only 22% overdrive though.
As far as a latter model trans I haven't heard of any adapters. If someone does please post.
