Rough idle, throttle does nothing

Well, I am not making very much progress as of late. When I start the truck up, it idles pretty rough. It starts easily though. The timing is (supposedly) dead on with a light and the dwell is right around 30. Weird thing is that the throttle has zero influence on the idle. It will make a sucking noise, but it won't change the rpm a bit. Distributor is a new reman unit, new points and condenser, new vacuum advance. Any ideas?

From what you describe, I think you have a vacuum leak that you need to find and repair.
the dwell as I recall needs to be 28 deg.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have sprayed starter fluid all around the manifold, base of carb, and vacuum hoses and had no indication of a vacuum leak.

I am 99.99% sure they are. There were times that it ran okay, but it seemed to get worse as I fiddled with it.

try this
disconnect the vacuum hose to your power brake booster and cork it. start the engine and see if any change.
