Hi all
I need two shocks, I bought a lift off ebay and it came with four shocks, but I have the quad shock setup s that means I need two more shocks.
I could just go buy two more superlift shocks (which is lift brand name) or buy whatever shock I want so...
I went to 4wheelparts.com and narrowed my choice down to the Pro Comp 9000 and the Rancho 5000. The pro comp is gas charged and the rancho is not.
Now my questions,
What are your opinions of each shock, and your experiences of which is better?
What is better (or the difference) between gas charged or not gas charged, which is better for off road and on road?
BTW if anyone is wanting to buy shocks go to the website mentioned above, because they have a deal on shocks. Ten-dollar discount on each shock, and free shipping.
gas shocks are pretty good, the reason for the gas is so that there wont be any bubbles in the fluid when you go over bumps and such, which will make the ride really soft, shocks with nitro in them are the best but expensive im sure. if it were me i would just get the same name brand as the lift, but its not me. i like ranchos my self, im runnin RS9000's on my truck and love them. dont really know much about the 5000's just that rancho quality is the best in my opinion.
i personally have had the best luck with rancho i am waiting till i can afford a set for my 93 and i am going to go with the 5000's had 1000's on my 86 ranger and my 84 broncoII. and is there a way to get the parts to make my 93 150 ext cab have the dual shock set up on front?? is it a easy swap of towers or what?? help.
Hey thanks for the info guys.
After I posted my question I realized I should have maybe posted this in the off road or suspension forum.
I’m wondering if It’s a bad idea to mix shock brands in the front?
Are the superlift shocks good, mustangGT221 said they were crap?
i couldnt tell you if they are bad or not but if it were me i would just get the same as the lift just so it wont be all like different all around. i dont think that it is bad for it to mix match shocks, or at least i dont see why it would be.
well after putting some miles on the Superlift shocks, i have concluded that they suck. If you jump on the rear bumper, it'll go down and up and stop, the rears are ok. But for some reason the fronts are just miserable. You push on the front bumper and get it rocking a little, and let go, it will still shake for a good 3-4 times. I'm gonna swap the superlifts out for ranchos, 60 bucks for two fronts.
