I just replaced the exhaust on a 4.0 litre 2002 ford ranger, and at about 3100rpm the engine sounds like its cutting out. The exhaust i used was a gibson dual axhaust/split rear part #9805.
Does anyopne understand why its now doing this. The exhaust we took off was an aftermarket magnaflow exhaust, and it seemed to not cut out like it now does withj the gibson exhaust.
Please help, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Since nobody is responding....I will explain what I have found out about this exhaust. The part 9508 by Gibson exhaust does not work on the Ford Ranger 4.0 litre. We took off the tailpipes from the muffler to see if it would fix the problem and it did. So the tail pipes aren't large enough around. Thesmall 1 3/4" pipes create too much backpressure, at 3100 rpm. I will update this post with new pipes to see how it works.
