Gibson Exhaust system?

Does anyone have Gibson Exhaust on their Expedition 5.4L?
I was thinking about buying it, I would like something a little louder than stock.

Have you looked at magnaflow, they make a couple of catback systems for Expedition, along with sound clips. They are a little expensive I think, 705.00 for 03-04 Expeditions.

I discourage anyone from buying exhaust systems over the internet. You can get just as good a deal with quality installation at your local muffler shop. Most people who buy kits from online suppliers end up going to a shop to get them installed anyway and don't save anything. The majority of manufacturers require installation by an authorized shop for warranty coverage. I can remember several years ago one manufacturer had a problem with the outlet cracking loose from the muffler body and when you contacted them the first question was "Was this product installed by an authorized dealer?" If not it was so sorry no coverage!

I was thinking about that too, I did check out the dealer for Gibson and they wanted almost $750 for the same kit and installation.
I did install a Stainless Steel Gibson kit on my 2005 Super Duty and it only took me about 1 hr. I just dont know about installing it on my 2000 Expedition.

From what my exhaust guy told me there is NO margin in Gibson Exhaust. Nothing against their quality or performance but he doesn't sell them. He says the quality of MagnaFlow is about the same and they are both full stainless systems. I agree on the Super Duty, I did mine and it was easy. I did take it over to him to have it weled up later.

By "margin", I assume you mean profit for the dealer/installer. Just want to clarify for my own head.

Do you guys think that the Gibson dual exhaust will be to loud? The Expedition is my everyday truck, on my 2005 Super Duty I have Gibson and it sounds great.

I have the Gibson Dual Extreme on my 98 5.4. It is not loud at all, I would say it is a little bit louder over stock, but has a slight drone at highways speeds. If you are looking for a loud exhaust this isn't the catback for you. The install took a little over 3 hours, and I was TAKING my time. Good luck!

I have a 99 with a Gibson system from the CAT back. Slight rumble but not loud. It has been on for about 130K miles without any problems.

Glad to hear it Gage, I'm sure you will be satisifed! The stainless steel one is nice, I opted for the aluminzed one snce it was cheaper.
One tip for you when you are installing it, The old muffler/pipe section will likely fight back when you are trying to remove it from the y-pipe. I simply put a jack and some wood blocks on the muffler and the frame x-memeber and after slowly putting pressure on the muffler it popped right off. Good luck!

I have decided to go with the MagnaFlow16608 full stainless system. I checked all of the online stores and my exhaust shop was only $115.00 more for the system installed and welded. They don't show that it fits the 2008 Expy but he says the systems normally fit both the screws and the expys.
