i bought this truck last fall has 140k on it there been something wrong with the 4 wheel drive since i owned it just left in 2 wheel drive till i had time to repair it , when the 4x4 is engaged and under load it seems like the front hub drivers side clunking and slipping you can really feel it makes quite a noise and not just when turning straight up a hill will make it happen.
a friend with a similar truck though that i just mite need to clean and re grease hubs because not fully engaging, i'm thinking it's more than that, so looking for any help to identify the problem "hoping for the best expecting the worst"

Is this a manual or automatic 4 wheel drive system?

 

automatic trans & locking hubs

 

You just need to check the drive axle ujoints and the locking hub. I'm assuming you have manual hubs? Also the rear needle bearing in the main bearing..

That would be auto...can't mix the two. those hubs get funky for sure..
