My 51 didnt have a flathead in it, but it does now. I replaced the radiator but havent been able to find a shroud. The manual indicates it had one. True?
Restored mostly like Henry built it. Just safety upgrades. Its a 53 flatty.
My kind of truck Mark "color too" Its not brain science to fab one. Far as I know
all F1 thru F6 V8 are the same. Not sure about a 6 cyl and F& & 8's are out they
are bigger. High school shop can do that usually free (sadly If your school still has
one) sam
Just make three rights, problem solved... seriously, left turns are dangerous...
Ive got an extra original shroud available if you dont want to make one.
Hey jmadsen
I've gone to great lengths to keep it original while at the same time time making it so you can drive it in modern traffic and not soil your shorts. I'd much prefer to have an original if you have one. Please let me know what it would take to get you to part with it. Mark
Honestly, I'd make one. I have a stocker, and mine and everyone else I know with a stocker the fan nicks it on hard left turns. Disconcerting...
Thanks Ross,
I imagine thats what I will do, if needed. Trying to keep it as original as possible, and yet make it reliable and driveable in modern traffic. A hard line to follow! ;-)

Schools still have shop class! Stop the presses!
Sad isn't it that young people can barely change a light bulb without supervision isn't it. I can build one but I would love to find an original.
And thanks.... been lots of hard work. Love the color too. Original 51 color.
Your hood is interesting. Looks like a 48 - 50 hood with 51 trim. I like the look, but how did you make the front chrome fit?
That's Sheridan Blue paint?
Hey Jolly Roger Joe
Yea, the hood was interesting. I tracked down the original owner and he SWEARS that is the hood the truck came with. My guess is it was damaged in transport and the dealer swapped it. Or hes just mistaken.
It didn't take too much metal work to make it match a '51. About the only aesthetic change I made was to smooth the vents in the hood. Just looked wonky to me.
And yes, that's Sheridan Blue. Really happy with it. Changes hue alot depending on light.

Well, you've done a fine job and the truck looks great!
