Gave mine a fresh 17 qts. of Delo 5W40 this afternoon and greased her up for the summer. The only time I can tell a difference is cold starts below 35* but I'm sure liking the cheaper price too.
How do you guys know when your truck doesn't like a particular oil? Some of you are saying that your truck hates T6....how can you tell? I'm going to change the oil before I tow the TT to FL, about a 3K mile trip through the Smoky Mts, and I'm considering switching from T6 to Delo 5-40 because of price and the discussions on here.
For me; I can tell a noticeable difference in injector noise especially as you get closer to change time, as compared to Mobil1 TDT. The problem is TDT is expensive!!!

Really? what if a may ask would make your injectors 'get noisier' in relation to the engine oil? providing the engine has plenty of oil in it at any given time....Just curious, that's something I would never expect.
I am assuming it is a smoother sound from the injectors that I am hearing. I am not an engineer, nor am I a mechanic but again assuming the spool valves that are quieter??? I change my oil like clockwork every 5k, and don't have any major leaks. So there is plenty of oil in it...
There are several other "oil threads" where others have posted similar experience with Mobil1. Not debating which is better, just an observation. I have been using T6 because of price and convenience but will definitely give Delo a try.

I can tell the same thing when I run delo or rotella. Don't have that problem with Mobil 1 or Valvoline.. But they're both very expensive
Wow, as tight as the tolerances would HAVE to be to allow these injectors to even function I never would have thought that something as simple as two different BRANDS of oil could make enough of a difference to allow them to be noisier with one brand over another. Especially the same viscosity rating Stranger things have happen though, right?
I'll drop it here though, no need for another oil war I'm sure we all have bigger battles to fight
For instance I ran 15-40 rotella and within 50 miles I had stiction until 180* oil temp... Truck ran horrible and ended up having to do injectors. I always run Valvoline 15-40 with no issues. My truck seems to run smoothest on Valvoline 5-40, it goes on sale at Napa a few times a year for a decent price

Crazy ain't it ....These 6.0 are always surprising me.
I've always changed my oil by the way my injectors sound on cold starts. If it starts cranky it's normally really close to time for an oil change. AFA oil brands, I've run a bunch of different kinds. For a LONG time I ran motorcraft 15w40 because my injectors just liked it better and they DIDN"T like syn. With this set of injectors it's just the opposite. Regardless, oil makes a difference and like all 6.0's, every one is a bit different.
Got my first UOA back on my 6.0L. Running Delo 400LE 15W-40 for 3K miles. All wear metals look good, iron might seem a tad high but after the engine work & heads being sent out to get machined - a temporary increase in Iron is expected. Same for the Silicon, most likely related to the engine work as well, should see that come down next sample. Fuel dilution was high but expected from the long idle times this winter.
3K oil change might seem early to some, but after the engine work I wanted to do a change and get some fresh oil in there before camping season. She's running Schaeffer's 5W-40 now, next run I would like to try the John Deere 50+ oil, read some great UOA reports on 6.0L's running this as well.
Almost forgot - Oxidation, nitration & soot levels are very low - this oil had quite a bit of life left........
I just put in dell 5w-40for the first time 3,000 miles ago. No noticeable change. Normally use Rotella. I used to use Mobil 1 a wile back ago but I don't want to pay that much anymore.
I normally go between 10,000 miles and 12,000 miles with great oil test results. I will post some of them soon.
I will post my 5w-40 when I get to 10,000.

How many miles a year do you drive ie: how many times a year do you change your oil?
I put some Delo 5w-40 in mine not too long ago and it idles smooth as butter now. Part of the problem was a reasonably clogged fuel filter, but my last oil change was done after doing some cleaning with AR9100.
