I have a 99 f350 7.3l 4x4 and my battery light flickers randomly. I have checked the altinator and both battery's. All brand new and seems to be ok. They only are getting a charge when the battery light is flickering. I put both new batteries in on Thursday and on Sunday I needed a jump at the store. And suggestions?
You could start with monitoring voltage with volt meter, check battery connections, ground connections on engine block & chassis, check plugin on alternator for bad connection.

Yup bad alternator, just because its new/newer doesn't mean anything, mine replacement for the original lasted a year, and I had a lifetime warranty. Same exact symptoms.

If you pull it out the shop should be able to test it on the spot.

I have had 4 altinator on 2 years and 4 batteries.
I have not heard a lot of good about box store alternators. I am planning to get a spare but I want it to be a good one. Thinking of going to the dealer, or getting the Bosch 6.0 one from Amazon and making it fit.
Check the grounds to the engine, they are easy to get to and clean, I just did mine this weekend. There is also one smaller ground wire off the passenger side battery that goes to the inner side of the fender.
