Getting a little older and climbing up into truck isn't as much fun as it used to be. However, I'm to vain to make myself lower it back down to factory height. Only have a 4" lift with 35's but still dream of 6" with 37's. Absolutely love the look! Anyway, I keep seeing these Amp Research Power Steps which would drop down a little lower than my current step bar. They have the weight capacity that I need as I weigh 375....rating is 600. But got to thinking about how they work in snow and ice that may build up in that area during a winter run. At $1200, too pricey to not be certain about. Anybody running these? What have your experiences been? I currently have Westin round bars that are just below the rocker panels. If anybody knows of something a little lower that still looks good, feel free to chime in also. And no, loosing the weight would not be looked upon as an option.
My bosses son has them on his 2014 f250 crew cab diesel, its lifted 6" with 37" tires. We're in NJ so ice snow and salt are a winter thing and he has no issues with his amp steps. He brings us supplies when we run out on a job so they get covered in mud also and they always work and havent rusted. I believe they are all aluminum with stainless hardware, they have sealed motors and a lifetime warranty i think?
I have a full length set on a crew cab I just bought. Its winter here too and they work flawlessly. I presume the smaller box step should be of similar quality.
I bit the bullet and installed a set on my truck a couple of years ago. I have an 8" lift with 37s and my 5'2" wife could no longer get into my truck with the bottom edge of the door now 30" (about half her height) above ground. The AMP steps drop 9" below the doors. I bought mine on Amazon and got free shipping. Here is a link to my Amazon review with a couple of pictures:
