So I am in a new quest!!! I am looking for some factory power running boards to purchase anyone? Also my truck did not come with that option I have purchased the PRB module and I have all the wires and connectors ready, I also need to set it up in the truck I have the wire schematic, question 1 do I need to enable it with forscan? What would need to be done to initiate that module and have it recognized by the truck, will it be in the IPC? Do I need the asbuild of a truck that has that mine is a lariat ultimate with everything except 5th wheel and power running boards, Livinup I hear you the expert in these type of request, thanks in advance
I've added Amp Research power steps to two (2) trucks. I'm sure they have a setup that will work on your Super Duty. I would be surprised if Amp Research isn't making the ones that came on my 2017 Super Duty Platinum.
AMP is not making the Powered Steps for the Super Duty. Another company is manufacturing them (likely Magna) and for other truck/suv mfrs. AMP licenses their design to these manufacturers so they're very similar to the AMP products (which are aftermarket only) but they're not the same.
IMO, AMP's products available in the aftermarket are better but they're also more expensive.
It's worth noting that AMP has a new product coming out designed for use in cold, muddy climates where snow, ice, mud, etc. can affect these power step products.
Ford makes their own step under the Amp license. Yes the AMP step IS a better product. Yes they do make a step that is specific to the new aluminum bodies for both F150 and SD. The mounting hardware is different for the aluminum bodies.
Amp makes a XL step that has a built in rock guard and drops down about 3 inches lower for trucks with a lift kit or people who are vertical challenged with a stock truck. They also offer an upgrade to have two drive motors per side giving you extra power for pushing through snow banks.
Ordering your truck with the Ford step from the factory is by far the most cost effective way to get steps. If you are going to add steps after the fact then go with AMP steps. Only way to go.
I am going to some dealers this weekend to begin finding the best offered deal on my order KR and it will come with these steps from the factory and I would like to sell them and get the AMP xl since I am getting a lift kit.

If you would like or could wait?
Why don't you think the factory steps will work for you?

i mean they prolly will... but I'm going to have to see. But having a extra 3 inch drop in a step is tempting when my old lady has a 4 year old and 7 year old
