My experiences with those ignition modules
I had always wondered, will they malfunction PARTIALLY OR TOTALLY?
ie do they start acting up or do they die a complete sudden death
I asked my peeps at the parts house a few times.....they didn't know but hinted that probably the latter, when they go its lights out completely.
TWO EXPERIENCES HAVE SHOWN ME THAT THE TRUCK WILL STILL RUN WHEN THEY ARE BAD
FIRST EXPERIENCE: I'm towing a 24 ft pontoon with my bronco. after about fifteen minutes I find I can barely accelerate, and its getting worse. Like really worse. Like PANIC worse. I turned it off and restarted, it would run out of first and second then take a real big dump in third
. I decided to turn back and go back to the house. I had a couple overpasses holy crap it was a miracle I got over them
I started thinking about all the headache and $$$$$$$ having a BOAT and a BRONCO towed home, then the tow truck driver(s) asking my why I had to one ton trucks sitting at home...
what can I say I love my BRONCOSo I pulled over almost to the point of defeat and kinda got a grip. Starting thinking okay bro you need air, fuel and fire......looked at my clear fuel filter, its full...then EUREKA try your back up ignition box.....
NAHH........IT PROBABLY WONT WORK...YOUR DREAMIN!!!!!
(IT WORKED) LIKE A NEW TRUCK. ON THE WATER 30 MINS LATER

SECOND EXPERIENCE: truck was damn near unstartable cold but had weak spark. switched boxes.....started up. Was not the only problem but I'm a believer now.
CONCLUSION: I firmly believe these boxes can go bad partially
