Does anyone have/ know of any pictures of painted grills that have been chromed? I'm considering it, but haven't been able to find many pics to make up my mind by (or maybe I've looked right at a whole bunch of them and not realized what I was looking at...more likely) I know they have a slightly differant look than the others, but can't remember if I was into it or not A friend of mine sugested it and when I was a bit iffy about it, he thought it was because I didn't like chrome
Chroming a painted grille is a good idea, IMO, because the painted grille is more durable than the aluminum and it will be a lot shinier. I don't have a picture, tho.
Jamey Moss has a painted grille for a '67 that he bought to chrome but he sold his truck recently due to birth of first baby. I think he still has it and it is for sale.
Costly (about $400) but well worth it... you've probably seen some chromies that you thought were polished aluminum. And it is heavier/more durable than the aluminum grill. I can just think of other things to do with $400

Yah, me too. I don't know that Blue needs a new grill at all right now seeing either way I go, aluminum or choming a painted, it will be about $300- 400. Pocket change or not ( ) I actually have some things in mind for it. Blue wants a Flowmaster exhaust system and my neighbours burnt out '70 crew cab he wants to get rid of has been beging me to throw money at it.
Well it's 98 out today with heat and ozone warnings and I sure would like to get the a/c in my 68 but it is just too hot to work out there. I can't wait until it cools off a little and I can put the insurance back on her for the winter.
