My truck is titled as a 67. Visually appears to be a 68.
vin # F25YKA30656, looks like 67 from 67fordtruck.com.
Has someone put 68 parts on, or was there a 67 1/2 ?
Are you saying it's got the 68 style squeeze door handles instead of the 67 long door handles? The doors are an easy swap as well. Sounds like a real 'Heinz' truck :) Other differences: the heater controls from 68 up were a slider type instead of the pull **** controls on the 67 and in 68 it was federally mandated that all vehicles have side reflectors or lights thus explaining the difference between 67 and 68 hood side emblems. You can check the serial number stamped on the top right frame rail between the rad and the engine crossmember to see if it matches the title.
can't find # on frame rail, but everything else looks 68. air cleaner even says 360 engine. 68 gauge cluster, slider heater, etc. any pics of frame # location?
Sometimes it takes careful rubbing to reveal the number. Try a scotchbrite pad after giving the top of the rail a good blast at a car wash. It should be within a foot forward of the crossmember. What did you mean by 68 cluster? The clusters are identical on 67-9 base models (silver painted steel) and the plastic chrome cluster is the same all the way to 72 unless you had a 69 Ranger or a 70-72 Ranger XLT in which case there would be woodgrain accents.
In the days before salvage titles every body shop had a truck or two to work on when biz was slow. Sounds like you got a pieced together one. I am surprised we don't hear of more. You still see those body shop trucks. Half of them look like a rubic's cube and the rest have that gaudy " I'm hiding something " paint job.
It's looking like this is really a 69 that had the drivers door (with tag) replaced with a 67 door, and then titled with the door vin.
Works for me. Here in Utah, 67 and older exempt from emission testing. Also, is 4X4 conversion bolt on?
Interesting though, Blue is definately a '67, but he's got the reflectors on the hood and has (well, had) them on the side of the bed as well. hmmm...ya know, I'm thinking he may have had parts of his front end replaced. The hood has some markings underneith I thought looked kinda scrap-yard-id-#-ish and the front bumper was one of the painted ones, but, as a custom cab, it should have been chrome...interesting...
