Ok iam on my 4th alternator and have 2 new batteries. .I have 11.5 volts at the battery's and the same at the stud on the alternator. .all my alternators had the same reading. And if I leave the battery's hooked up they are dead by morning. .any ideas. .?? The truck is 2000 f 250 7.3..
Clean electrical connections are a must. If you have a lose most of the time it's the ground connection you will have charging issues. Dont forget to look ath the starter. All of your charging goes through there to the battery. It has a direst connection to the battery and all the power goes through there. Also I like to clean the surface around the connection to the frame and connect the ground then prime and paint over it to keep dirt and water out.

Thanks for the help..I have cleaned contacts all over the truck .and now if I turn the key on the truck goes dead turn the key off buzzer and dome light comes back on .there is 12 volts in the battery's but would not start.so I hooked up the wife's car for a boost I turned the key on the truck and it killed her car dead ..had to boost the car. . And the truck sitting there with nothing on with a meter on the battery you can see the volts dropping. .can a starter cause this ?? I pulled all the wires front starter to the battery looking for chafing all looks good
