I have an 03 Escape that I just replaced the battery and the alternator. Drove it and everything seemed fine until it died again. Driving and all of the sudden it just gave out no battery light or anything came on. towed it home and tried to jump it to get the windows up but it wont do anything. the interior lights keep blinking while hooked up to the other car until you turn the key then they go off. Starter or a bad ground maybe? Any suggestions would be appreciated so it can go get traded in as its been the vehicle from hell!!
yes and i just got back from having the starter tested and it was good. The battery that was just put in there is shot now too. I'm thinking that the alternator is shot once again.
Batteries can short out in an instant, be good at 1:00, and be junk by 1:10. Had it happen, and just didn't believe that it could start the engine, be normal, and then ten minutes later be so shot it took an wrecker mounted, self-powered jumper to kick it over enough to get home. Jumper cables wouldn't do it. That can have an effect on an alternator, and the internal regulator, putting an extreme load on both.
I would also be looking at the electrical panel next to the battery under the hood. A battery that was overcharging due to a bad cell can emit a lot of acid, and cause corrosive damage. A good wash with a baking soda solution and neutralize the acid. If soda/water bubbles when you wet the surface, there's acid there.
