Ok so long story short I have a 3" si/do 2.5" muffler on my 2000 5.4l f250 (traded a guy my stock muffler for it)
Im wanting to cut the two 2.5" out and weld on two 3"couplers and run two tail pipes. Im planning on cutting a second tail pipe from the pull it yard and welding both pipes together with some steel stock. Both will dump out on the passenger side behind the tire.
Im trying to deaden or reduce my current muffler drone as its almost loud enough to drive you out of the cab.
Will modifying my muffler yield negative effects? Would it add to the deep low rumble (which is what im after)
Dumping it away from the cab should make a hefty change to the noise. Dumping it under the cab like that is very loud. The sound bounces off of the pavement with the turndowns. As for the size, I wouldn't be concerned with changing the couplers, just run 2.5". The stock was like single 2.25 or 2.5". You'll have two pipes, you'll already be well larger than stock.
