Which muffler

I'm not able to get under my truck right now to look, but I need to know what muffler specs I have. 2007 XLT Extended cab, 4x4. I'm not doing a cat back, just a muffler. Anyone know what offset I need and what size inlet and outlet? And I assume I'll also need to get a piece of straight pipe to make up the difference in size between the aftermarket muffler and the stocker?

The pipe isn't 3", but it isn't 2.5" either.

If you bring the truck to a exhaust shop, I'm sure they could do something for you.
Give them the muffler you want get them to cut the old one off, put the new muffler on and a piece of pipe to make up the difference.

IF the 07s have the same muffler as the 04s, then it's about 4 foot long and has a diameter of about 2 feet! Those things are way to big!

For a muffler, I'd suggest a magnaflow.

After replacing my stock '05 muff with a magnaflow, I gave the old one to a buddy for his 20' bed tow truck. That muffler looks like something you'd see on a Bekins truck.

Not that I mind you guys hijacking my thread , but I haven't gotten an answer to the original question yet. I haven't picked a brand that why I didn't bother to mention any of them. But all the brands have one thing in common. You don't really seem to pick the model of muffler by application. You need to know the inlet size, outlet size and offset. I'm not having a muffler shop do it for me. I'm doing it myself. I just need to know what fits under my truck, since I can't get under it and measure. Let me rephrase. I can get under but I don't really want to right now.

I told you basically what size it is(it's something a little different, and would more than likely require a machine to flair the ends to get the right size(which a exhaust shop would have).
I suggest a good brand that most people in here have found to be one of the best(my time and research has showed me this).
I also mentioned you will need extra pipe to over come the difference in muffler sizes, which you would need to buy, cut, flair, clamp, and put brackets to hold everything in place.

I doubt you have everything needed to do the proper job, so a exhaust shop would be a good place to go, instead of ending up with a headache, extra parts, to many trips to the parts store, and a hack job.

My local shop (if you brought the muffler) would cut out the old muffler, put the new one, put extra pipe to make up the difference, put clamps and hangers for $20. Sounds a lot easier than trying to figure out everything that would be needed.
