The gasket hasny or doesn't appear to have failed. It looks like it has only deteriorated.
The point of concern is that threaded hex plug in the t-stat housing. Is it leaking? Take paper towels to clean it up. Let it sits, then let the engine get to operating temperature and watch if it starts leaking there.
Need to identify the failure, then move to repair.

Yeah the leak is coming from that plug I assume. I have cleaned it before and it appeared again.
I'm thinking if it's leaking there, you have 3 options..
1. Try and remove the threaded plug, clean the threads in the t-stat and plug, use an appropriate sealant, and see if it's stops leaking.
2. Remove the thermostat housing and see why it's leaking, and repeat Step #1.
3. Go back to either step unt the leak is sealed.
Worst case scenario..
That whoever tapped and threaded the plug, did a poor job and its gonna need to be replaced OR the thermostat housing has a hairline crack or fracture that gas developed there.
