Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor?
I have an 89 F150 4x4 5.0. I got it 3 years ago, and the thing has run like a dream since. The person that I bought it from (a family member) had replaced the TPS, IAC and both fuel pumps shortly before I got it. It has recently developed a problem. The check engine light comes on and stays on and it idles poorly (the IAC keeps hunting and it idles low) at a cold start. After warming up it runs okay and has enough power, but the CEL is still on. I've checked all of the normal things (fuel pressure, timing, etc.) and it's all good. Could it be the ECT sensor? Would this cause the CEL to stay on constantly? HELP!

Since posting my question a yesterday, I just finally got the chance to take my truck to a friends shop that has the proper scan tool. It was a code 22 "MAP sensor out of range". Pretty self explanatory. I changed it and everything is back to normal now. Thanks for the response, MI02SVT.
