My ford f 350 has a bad miss under load but once it gets going it goes away. I've changed the spark plugs, wires, button, just put new carb on it did not a just it. It also sat for about 4 years any ideas
I would have said ignition, but you changed all of that but the distributor cap. Maybe do that? What about timing? Too much can cause a miss under load.
So, that leaves fuel and compression/valves. Let's do easy first, meaning fuel, as it is most impacted by sitting. Have you driven enough to run most of the fuel out and refill? Today's gas with alcohol goes bad pretty quickly.
Ok the distributor hold down was loose tryed to turn the distributor to try to adjust the timeing and it won't move or come out any idea how to get it out without destroying it
Wow! Glad that was brief or I'd have gotten lost in the run-on sentence.
Anyway, I had fits getting the dizzy loose on one of my M's. It took soaking in PB Blaster for several days plus two pry bars to get it to come loose. But, before you do that check to see where your timing is set. It may be fine and you don't need to get the dizzy loose.
First, run it up to operating temp. Take off the hold down and spray some Pb blast around the base.
If you don't care about vice grip teeth marks, clamp the vice grips very securely on the shaft, giving yourself some room to smack the vice grips with a beater.
Go easy on beating the vice grips...left, right, left, right, etc. Might take a while but it works for me.
