Under the knife....again
Don't temp me with any idea's,,,, but your right Ford tractor grey is a fantastic clean color and would look good on my lil pick um up....
Long time no talk....
I just needed to make one, but now you got the wheels turning about replacing the others....
About the body work.... When do want me to come out?????
Or are you coming out here to dad's scratch and patch repair shop lol
Saturday morning was off to a slow and late start (10;30 must have needed the sleep)
ground down the welds for the patch panels on fenders and skim coated them, got the cross members primed and sprayed in black, sprayed the frame black, tank in a silver, straps in black, scuffed the rear of the cab and rattle can primed, will re-shoot in poly later,
today I re-assembled the bed back on the frame and put the steps back on,
(took them off at the start of project). I wasn't sure of their condition, as to where they bolt to the fender was a major cancer area. the steps were actually undamaged but the fender was clean thru, gone, nowhere to be found, non existent, "et cetera et cetera et cetera" [let see who can name the movie and who said it....]
I did reuse the wood and fasteners for now,
(replacements on the way)
had to manufacture a replacement, as the original was gone..
All put back together ready for work
made sure to grab a couple of fellow students to help..
wire wheeled the rust from under front lip of hood and hand sanded the underside of the hood,
took it into the booth and sprayed with poly primer,
putting it back on was... well lets just say interesting... one of the U clips decided to play hide and seek with us, once we removed the hood (a second time) it jumped out of its hiding spot....don't think it really knows the game hide and seek

back on the truck at home
this past week while just poking and prodding... guess what I discovered....give up....
see PAREDNECK....we do get rust out here
yup... floor pan is toast
...but don't worry a quick call to NPD to order a replacement (which is going to make the long distance cross country trip to save the day, will be here next week)

this did however make me feel a little bit better....
somebody somewhere is missing roll of baby shower wrapping paper....but I won't tell his wife,,,,
so floor pan replacement is up next tonight

also going to repair the bottom of the front bed panel already have a patch panel fab'd up for it
will post pics later or tomorrow of repairs in progress and the aftermath there of
I was un-able to get the floor pan fully welded down, but got about 80% done
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
but here is an update on under the knife......
last week was all about taking the bed apart and off to prime..
and as usual I forgot to not to post an update (wouldn't do any good seeing how I left my camera at home
)then half way thru ran out of primer
fast forward to today....first thing after work I stopped by the local paint supply house and donated..well actually traded $$ for ANOTHER can of poly primer
then to class.. once again to break the bed down..then into the booth
gotta love a clean, temperature controlled environment....
here she is back together
not bad for just a little over 2 hours of "fun" don't you agree?

The rust on the roof and I did battle AGAIN,

I re sanded,retreated,and re primed {this time I re primed with less reducer laid it on like a sealer and three wet coats.}
took the first week of may off from working on the truck,
now I have been shaping the primer with 150 grit and long blocks
yes i am using guide coat ($2 can of flat black primer instead of the expensive stuff)

or was my truck tagged?

been adjusting and re-adjusting on the doors to get them as close as possible but still needed to float a few places just a little with a glazing coat
top of passenger door to fender
bottom of passenger door to B pillar
Go figure..

now you know how easy it is catch the old dreaded "While I am At It "Bug

here is my current "bug bite"
going to go over my bed rails tomorrow with a second coat and reblock
well this semester is over and done with.
I was not able to apply color

but that gives me till Aug. to put some more primer on it and block it down over the summer
prepping for the metallic
I will be going back for another shot in Aug
Half price for another course and use of tools and booth time

in the mean time it is all about sanding sanding and yes more sanding..
