Hey guys
I've got a 4.6 in a 2005, 178000. I assume the 4.6 in a E150 would be the same as the F150. I've posted this in the van forum but its not getting much of a response.
So anyways
Started and intermediate problem where sometimes it would stalling when making turns, such as entering a driveway, making turns or going from reverse to drive. Now its turned into more of a problem with stalling, even while in just idle and not just in gear.
At idle RPM is sporatic from 300-900
Here is where I'm at
New Fuel Filter
ECM is reading 38 to 41 psi fuel pressure at idle and when throttle is pushed.
Took a chance and changed the belt since the old was a bit loose. Even ran the engine without a belt and there was no change in my problem.
I've removed the throttle body, just learned these engine don't have an IAC, they use and IAC motor instead. I don't know how to test that but I'm googling it..lol
Back of throttle blade is all gunked up so I'm cleaning that now.
It has no codes btw.
I guess you the piece on the throttle body is call a IAC motor, we took that apart just to see its condition.. Reinstalled with the blade shut.
Put back on the engine and it won't start. Unplug the IAC motor and it does start, runs rough and will stall.
Whether the IAC is plugged in or not there is no control with the gas pedal, it does nothing.
Any input into these 4.6 engines would be greatly appreciated
Correct part identification is Throttle body motor... thanks
Reinstall per the directions. Start it up, runs rough and still no communication between gas pedal and throttle body,
what am I missing?
hi yasky69. i have the same problem that you had, so imagine my relief as i read every one of your posts about the stalling problem. all the way to where you didn't tell us what fixed it . so please help me and i'll owe you one. thank you
had that check your egr valve pipe from the manifold mine the nut was all rusted wasnt anything left dealer want alot for it and labour isnt a sure thing on how well it goes.
i took 2 clamps with exhaust wrap fiber that looks like treaded fiber glass.
put the pipe as tight i could clamped the manifold after going around 4 times and then clamped the pipe.
last me over a year for 5$
then removed the material and wraped it again.
i never had that problem since
