Fuel filler tube to rear tank

The rubber hose inside the fuel filler tube is broken off even with the end of the fuel filler tube. When filling my new 38 gallon tank fuel splashes out and I must fill the tank very slowly. I'm thinking I could remove the tube and using a hole saw remove the entire unleaded nozzle flapper and the complete rubber hose. This, I believe would allow fuel to run into the tank unrestricted and allow air to escape via the now larger fill tube opening. Any thoughts on this idea or other possible solutions to slow filling and splashing fuel? I would think that air pressure buildup would go through the pressure valve on the top of the tank and either out to the charcoal canister up by the engine or simply escape to atmosphere out the other vent line ( there are two hoses on a 7.5 fuel pressure valve).

Spectra has replacements available.
