Okay so I came across a well built 347 stroker which I hope to buy and put into my 1995 f150. My truck currently has the 5.0 EFI H/O in it and the 347 that I'm looking at is is built on an older block, not sure what year or whether it's a roller block or not, and it is carbeurated currently. When swapping it in, I would like to convert this engine from carbeurated to an EFI set up like my current engine as this truck is my Dailey driver. What equipment will I be able to swap over from the old engine to the new engine and what other modifications will I need to make in order to convert the carbeurated engine to EFI and drop it into my truck? I'm sure I'm leaving out a few questions as I don't have very much experience with projects like this. Any help is appreciated guys!
For the ECU to run your motor you will need to be able to tune the ECU. So you need to find out if your are ODBI or ODBII and then get a setup, most likely MASS Air if not already, that you can use to tune the motor. If it is MASS Air already that takes out a lot of the work. You would then need to just get a new ECU, a tuner, and re-pin your connector and you should be ready to start tuning. If you have an auto trans your ECU choices are a bit limited if you also want the ECU to control the trans
My truck is a 5-speed so no worries of an automatic, but it does not currently have mass air. So am I just able to take the EFI equipment from the old engine (intake manifold, injectors, etc.) and put that onto the new engine? From there do I just need to worry about converting it to mass air and having a computer that I am able to tune?
