Mark LT computer updates

HI! I'm Dlbuggs, never been on here before and don't know what to expect, but have some concerns re: my 2006 Lincoln Mark LT. Last year I had a light on the dash (don't recall what type of light) so took it to a local garage to get checked out. The owner told me a code called for the computer to be updated and he could fix it thru Ford's update system, so he hooked his PC to it and downloaded updates from Ford, magically the light on dash was gone. However, after a drive to Chicago my mileage had gone from 19-20 down to 13, so I took it back and he flashed it again w/ Fords latest updates, now these updates w/ him are approx. 1 yr. apart as I don't drive my Lincoln very much, it sets in garage while I drive my beater truck around. The Lincoln truck only has 49,000 on it and I just took it to Oklahoma after he flashed it last weekend and now my mileage has gone from 13 mpg down to 11 mpg. Has anyone else out there had any experiences like this and if so what had to happen to correct it...........Thanks
